The Basic police training curriculum sets aims, outcomes and content of the training, training methods, number of training sessions, evaluation, assessment and achievement of participants, time line, conditions and implementation of the basic vocational police training.

The basic police training curriculum is developed based on the guidelines provided from the job task analysis and duties of uniformed police officers. According to the Rules and Regulations of the staff selection criteria, the candidates must possess secondary education. The job task analysis helped identify knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary for competent policing.

PURPOSE OF TRAINING

To train prospective participants for performance of general uniformed police duties, community policing duties, traffic policing duties and border guards.

AIM OF THE TRAINING

The aim of the training is to enable participants for competent performance of basic police duties in accord with the laws and regulations of the Republic of Serbia; international conventions ratified by the Republic of Serbia; and in accord with the policing standard.

TIME LINE

The basic police training at the moment lasts for eight months.

FINAL EXAM

When completing the second phase of the training at the Basic Police Training Centre the participants are eligible for taking the final exam.

Participant that has not passed the final exam is sent for re-testing. The time frame for the retesting can not be less than 30 days and more than 60 days from the date of the final exam. If participant does not pass the retesting he/ she is no longer considered as participant of the basic police training.

Participants who pass the final exam enter employment in the Ministry of Interior Affairs and receive status of probationers and sent for vocational field training in regional police departments. In regional police departments based on a specific training programme together with PFTO (Police Filed Training Officer), the probationers are trained for independent work as uniformed police officers with general competence for which high school education is required.

NOTE

Participants who finalize the final exam of the vocational field training, that is taking place in regional police departments, are eligible for taking the vocational state exam.
